Yellow sweet clover can be sown in the fall or the spring, even as early as late February or early March. Planting in the fall most likely will cut down on weed competition, unless the spring planting takes place on a clean crop field. Yellow sweet clover will grow and establish on poor soil, but it will not survive on soils with high acidity. Grows best when planted on a firm seedbed.
